1. What is Get off the Grid?

Get off the Grid KC is a new project initiated by the
River Market Business Association.  Get Off The Grid KC will be your one-stop shop for everything “Green” in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.   This site makes it possible for our downtown residents and businesses* to find out where the latest high-tech Eco-Friendly products can be purchased, attend events such as Eco-Friendly Trade Shows, and to learn & bring Environmental Awareness to others.  Join our efforts to become the
“First Certified Green” Neighborhood in the downtown area.   

2. How Can you Get Involved?

By signing up now you are giving us a head start on getting out the message when the Get Off The Grid KC website is completed and ready for your everyday use.

3. Where are their Recycling Drop Off Points?

We are proud to announce that in the River Market there are now recycling bins on many of our street corners making it easy to throw your plastic bottles into while taking your lunchtime jog or your old newspapers as you leave the office.  We have many more recycling centers to list so check back soon!

4. Where can we buy Rain Barrels/Water Solutions?   

     Bridging the Gap has rain barrels for sale. 

5. Are there Electricity and Gas Eco-Options?

Yes, by contacting your local energy company such as KCP&L and MGE you can sign up for their energy saving programs. 
Services are available in both gas and electric.

What can I do right now to start my journey off the grid?

    Turn the light(s) off when you leave a room.

    Buy Energy Star rated light bulbs.

    Turn your AC/Heater off or turn it down low when leaving your loft or home.

    Keep your tires inflated properly on your vehicle.

    Recycle your plastic, paper, and metals.

    STOP flushing your prescription medicines & household chemicals into the water supply!
